In the modern installations of its two plants in Catanduva city, technology makes its presence felt at each phase of the production process with a high level of automation.
Such high technology can be evidenced by the application of the Grenco freeze concentration system, as well as by GEA heat concentration system, both developed to process coffee extract under lower than usual steam and evaporation temperatures, ensuring quality and aggregating value to the products.
Another innovation is represented by the Freeze Dried system, a vacuum drying process with high level of industrial automation that preserves coffee aromatic features. There is also the Spray Drying system consisting of water evaporation of the extract when pulverized at high-pressure levels with hot air.
Cocam is the only plant that decaffeinates green coffee in Brazil, obtaining as a by-product the pure Anhydrous Caffeine. The system applied by Cocam to decaffeinate green beans is approved by Brazilian sanitary authorities (ANVISA), and by FDA (Food and Drug Administration-USA).
Besides commercializing the decaffeinated green coffee, Cocam provides services to third parties, decaffeinating raw material supplied by clients. Coffees varieties, such as Arabica and Robusta, can be utilized, separately or blended.
