In recent years, Cocam has managed to reduce water consumption in its industrial process by more than 60%, even while significantly increasing production.
WATER SAVING
Spent coffee grounds, a byproduct from the production process, are used to fuel the boiler and generate the steam that powers the factory. The biomass also consists of other recycled residues, such as wood chips from the renewal of some agricultural crops and sawdust generated by the furniture industries.
UNIFORMS TURN INTO BLANKETS
The uniforms of Cocam, used and damaged over time, are transformed into blankets to warm those in need. Hundreds of blankets are donated annually to charitable organizations.
